MONSIEUR PIERRE JOINS THE

SUSPENDED COFFEE SOCIETY

A caffè sospeso (Italian: suspended coffee) is a cup of coffee paid for in advance as an anonymous act of charity.  It is a café variation of ''pay it forward''.

The tradition began in the working-class cafés of Naples, where someone who had experienced good luck would order a sospeso, paying the price of two coffees but receiving and consuming only one.  A person in need enquiring if there was a sospeso available would then be served a coffee for free.

On 29th of March 2013 Declan Jacobs & Jett Mahmud were inspired by what they had recently heard from their Italian friends who told them about suspended coffee and set up a facebook page to let people know about it.  Since then it has gone way past any of their wildest dreams.  The amount of people who have grasped the idea & run with it is totally amazing.

Declan and Jett’s main aim for the Suspended Coffee Society Melbourne is to change people’s attitudes to what they can do to help people in need.

We are thrilled to be supporting Suspended Coffee Society and welcome our wonderful customers - you - to buy a suspended coffee.

For every ten coffees that are suspended, we will donate an additional ten coffees.
